Met officer to proceed with race bias claim

Lawyers representing the Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Tarique Ghaffur will this week commence formal legal action against the Metropolitan Police alleging that the Asian officer suffered racial discrimination during the course of an investigation into another senior ethnic minority officer, Chief Superintendent Ali Dizaei.

Ghaffur, Britain’s most senior Asian police officer, alleges that he was subject to a campaign of victimization, harassment and bullying and that he was put under illegal surveillance in the course of an operation relating to Chief Superintendent Ali Dizaei, who was being investigated for misconduct. Mr Dizaei, was eventually cleared of the charges brought against him.

Mr Ghaffur is being represented by employment solicitor Shahrokh Mireskandari of Dean and Dean Solicitors.
