I have been living in a property since 22 july 2007. By giving the landlord 1 month notice the day 28th of may he told me that I was to leave the property 28th of june 2008.

Meanwhile while waiting for the day to come he just popped in the property with builders to work for 2 days or so without giving any previous notice.

By having my peace obstruct I have decided to pack a lot of my property and start moving because by then I was already paying/renting another room.

The 18th of june I went to the property (a bedsit inside a House of Multiple Occupation) to finish taking my property and realized the doorlock has been changed. I did phone the landlord with no success untill I have told him that I will be going to the police and seek a lawyer if necessary. He did answer and conclude that I had to go to the police and not phone him because I was shouting. Mind you that I was talking annoyed as is to expect.

I have been to the police without any success. Citizens Advice Bureau helped me to find the name of the propietor which is not the same that I thought and that I was dealing with. I do not have access to my tenancy agreement because that was left inside the room as well and disposed off.

I have written the propietor without any success and now I have written a letter to the one that I have dealt with all the time and left the letter with one of the tenant as the only way to contact him because he is not taking my phonecalls anymore.

When I have phoned him last he told me that he can not give me the deposit in full but half half which I did not agree with as my money was running on a room that I had not access to and so wanted my full deposit back. He hung up on me because I did mention to him that the reason why I have left the door unlocked was because he went there with the builders without any notice which I found my peace disturbed by that and perhaps the room is inside a house with a main lock on the door. Meanwhile I have contacted another tenant who did have contact with him and he told this other tenant that he decided to change the lock because he saw me moving anyway while he told me a different story.

I am so upset and will take this further if that is necessary. I am asking information of whom to call and where to go because I do not have the full name of the one I had signed the tenancy agreement with but only the name of the real propietor whom is registered at the landregisty.

I do have my suspicions that there must be something dodgy taken place. As the one dealing with the tenants never give his surname, not even on the tenancy agreement. He is Mauritian. Then the name of the propietor sounds english and the name on the electricity bill etc is also different.

I hope somebody can give me a good advice to proceed because I will not let him keep my money as I feel that he humilliate me in a way. He is telling one story to one person and another to me. I feel upset and want to show him that people can not use other that way.
