car parking tickets

i have recieved 4 parking tickets from the antonine centre car park in cumbernauld. the ticket on the car stated the fine wound be £60 if paid within 2 weeks and there after would increase to £85. Central Ticketing, who issued the tickets have now passed me on to a debt collecting company - CCS collect. they are now lookin for £143 per ticket.

I would like to find out what power these companies have, how easily can they affect my credit rating if i do not pay?can they charge whatever they like?

the letter they sent has threatened court action and the following -

an application for an exceptional attachment order on goods owned by you .

execution on earnings arrestment with your present or future employer.

aslo the signs that are in the car parks are not worded very clearly. it states , maximum parking permitted 4 hours. then it says you will be fined if you break the following rules- then there is a list of things like, do not parking in disabled space without permit, do not park on pavement, do not park outwith the bay.but the 4 hour limit is not in the list.(this is why i got the tickets). i could get a copy of the exact wording of the sign as i has just briefly noted what it reads.

i would appreciate any advice on this issue, thanks

The first question is why you didnt pay them when you got them , or dispute them  if you felt they were issued in error.

CCS are giving you the opportunity to settle the matter with them  prior to any further court action . No they cannot charge any old amount , but there are fees applied as these issues move throught the system , and you as the defendant will be liable to them all !!! .

If theses four fines continue unpaid and  are issued out to the bailiffs  you are likely to be paying substantially more and at risk of losing your vehicle if you decide to still not pay  the fines.

My Wife has recently received a Parking Ticket from Central Ticketing in a Car Park in Hamilton and I am in 2 minds whether to pay it or not.

What was the outcome of your case and could you give me any advice on what I should do with mine?

Yes, I fully agree with you.  Why on earth should you be forced to follow the rules like the rest of us?

I do hope they took your car from you for non-payment.
